Sanyo dc j3k
Hi there I've just bought a SANYO DC J3K stereo receiver amp off eBay as i primarily liked the look and the price was right. I have a Marantz 1550 that i'm (slowly) restoring, and I needed something of approximately the same vintage to complement my set-up that wasn't going to cost a fortune. Its from a seller I've used before so I'm hopeful when they say its been tested as fully working. Depending on what I get in the post though I may need to tinker with it and so I went looking for a service manual, but no dice.
I know this model was was originally sold as part of a music system comprising of a turntable and speakers and I've located an owners manual, but that really is not much more than a, "here's where stuff gets plugged in..." type of guide, it has no specs regarding power output, frequency response etc., but it does have a circuit schematic?
Any additional intel on this model would be great.
Here's a picture I located on hifiengine of the same model (no official entry in their DB). I've contacted the poster of that image, but its from 8 years ago, so i'm not super hopeful for an answer.

thanks for reading, Mike

Re: Sanyo dc j3k
Best Sanyo made in the 70's was the JCX 2900K. Easily bests everything made by the big dogs (Pioneer/Marantz etc) during that era. You can get this TOTL Receiver for 30-50% of what the Best Pioneer/Marantz receivers go for. $500 is about the average price. If that's too rich for you go for the 2600K Model which is around $200.
Amps: First Watt SIT-3, Pass XA25, Valvet E2 SE, LTA ZOTL40, First Watt SIT-1 Mono's, ARC Ref75SE, Decware Zen TorII MK4, Line Magnetic 845 Premium, Raven Reflection MK2, Audio Hungary Qualiton X200, Kingko 101Pro, Audio Hungary Qualiton I50
Pre-Amps: Luxman 900U, Coda 07X, ARC MP-1 Multi-Channel, Conrad Johnson Met-1 Multi-Channel
Disc Spinners: Luxman D-10X, Ayre DX5, Oppo 105/205
Speakers: Cube Audio Nenuphar Mini, Fleetwood Deville, Volti Razz, Spendor Classic 100, Rosso Fiorentino Certaldo 2, Klipsch Cornwall IV, Harbeth SHL5+, Harbeth C7XD, Omega Compact 8, Triangle Comete 40th Anniversary, Audio Solutions Figaro M, Graham LS3/5A

Re: Sanyo dc j3k
quick update, receiver arrived in very smart condition, just a couple of bulbs to replace (done). It's got 4 channel matrix stereo sound. I managed to measure 3w per channel output. It was at first a little disheartening as i was hoping for at least 10w per channel, i had no specs to manage my expectations. However I was pleasantly surprised that's its able to power my 40w 3 way floor speakers to an acceptable level for my small study. So given this is meant to be just my stand in receiver it will absolutely do for now. BTW once I had it open it appears to be very similar inside to the contemporary dxc units of the same era, so if i need to go tinkering further I think I can find enough material from those more well known units to help me. Going forwards I may try and locate some slightly better matched speakers, i'm not sure yet, it really depends on how long the Marantz is out of commission, but overall very happy with this little unit.

Re: Sanyo dc j3k
I have the same model Sanyo and the associated turntable. I was sceptical at first given the low power output and the "stigma" attached to both Sanyo and "system" stereos.
This setup will really surprise , I have used it with a bunch of vintage (70's to 90's) speakers including Spendor, Goodmans, Energy and B&W. to my ears the little Sanyo drives the Goodmans (Mezza SL) the best, the energy speakers sounded horroble as they need more power, as with the Bowers and Wilkins, the spendor and the goodmans I own are much more efficient speakers and sound brilliant.
I have actually just purchased a Sanyo Cassette Deck to compliment the setup. It may replace my main Rotel Receiver and setup as I really like the sound.

Didn't do a triple header - what a pic! That brings back many great memories of riding The C&T railroad to the summit. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
