ROKU 3 connection dilema
I figured I'd ask here too. I tried AVS Forums and they don't seem to understand what I am trying to do.
I have a ROKU 3 and want to watch non-surround encoded TV shows and such through the sound on the TV and watch Encoded Movies and such through the AVR.
My AVR does not do Pass-thru so at recommend of Monoprice I tried a Switch. Blew through two of them. They would work for a minute and then would not detect any signal, but remain powered. Monoprice determined that they are defective and can not hand signal from the Roku.
My next though was to go with a Splitter and hook up as follows: HDMI from ROKU to Splitter- HDMI from Splitter to TV - HDMI from 2nd Splitter port to AVR - HDMI from AVR to TV on second port. (TV has 3 HDMI ports). According to Monoprice this will not function. Why won't it?
I'm a loss for what to do. With all the tech we have these days you would think there should be a device to allow me to do this?
In the meantime I can't watch any movies or concerts on the Roku. My TV' s sound is horrifying for movies and music.
