    80 inch Sharp.

I purchased an 80 inch Sharp 3D for circa $3500.00
Best picture? Nope. But a great picture for Blu-rays and bang for the buck.
The 90 inch was circa 9k.

80 inch, that must be awesome! ...Good price too.

I would love to see a Panasonic or Samsung plasma 3D HDTV 80" in that price range; I would buy tomorrow morning, no sweat!

I went with a projector so pphhht. Just kidding...that's awesome. 80"! I've been thinking about a bigger TV for my living room (projector is in its own man-cavish-place) but may wait out this 4K thing or wee what comes next and what comes down in price next. I can't believe how expensive my 42" 480p (yep, 480) plasma was 8 years ago, compared to what you can get now.

    Definately. $25k

Sharp may be the best bang for the buck in 70-80" size right now. Up to 65" nothing beats the new line of Pansonic plasmas (ST60 / GT60 / VT60). They are out of this world good and ST60 is also radiculously cheap (for the performance you are getting).

Many people on video forums, who already switched from PDPs to LED LCDs, are now returning to plasmas. I'm thinking about getting one myself (65VT60).

    Re: 80 inch Sharp.

Very true Adam, the Panny 65" ST-60 flat panel plasma is a tremendous value!

    * Next will be OLED and 4K.

    _________________

Just a short mention here on what I think:
KingRT has an 80" flat panel HDTV; if he sits close enough from it, he doesn't truly need a front projector to get that full/true "cinematic" impact.
I've seen it at my local video store, and I did sit six feet or so from it; WoW! ...Closer than that and you're not fully seeing the action on-screen; you have to turn your eyes to the right or/and to the left to see what's going on.
And the picture is very bright, more so than the best front projector. ...Myself I would be totally satisfy with an 80" screen size.
Right now I only have a 60" plasma from Samsung (3D), and I sit roughly seven feet from it (up to eight, depending of my sitting disposition of the moment).

BUT! My next one has to be an OLED one, with 4K resolution, and something between 65" and 95". ...3D of course.
...And a front projector is not out of my picture (pun intended). ...Price will be one of the main contributing factor (no more than five grands).

P.S. I believe that Emile (-E-) has that Sony front projector model ($25,000); the VPL-VW1000ES 3D SXRD Projector.

    Re: 80 inch Sharp.

I have a projector in my Home Theater. Bob is correct. I sit 9.5 feet back and it seems very immersive. The brightness makes for a whole new experience.
The family loves it and the ease of use over my projector.
The 80 inch is the price sweet spot. 3D, is gimmicky fun.
It's a great everyday tv that you do not have to worry about lighting.
