My PMC IB2i speakers need to be raising height .

I have the 14" PMC's stands and I found its little too short . I need to raising about 1 and half inches.

What would be the best idea ? Is there any cones or anything I can purchase without breaking the bank ?

You can try the Yeil Spike Sound Will, I have used them to great effects on components. He has a model for speakers. Contact Tash Goka (Reference 3A speaker designer)

+1 for the Granite slabs. Just put a pair under the D1's. Made the D1's sound even clearer. But the Raido stand is the de-coupling type.

I have experiment quite a bit with the IB2i and the PMC stands also height position, I found 16" to be ideal height. I also discovered different materials between the speaker and the stand had an effect on the sound more so than objects between the stand and floor. I ended with 50 duro Sorbothane between the stands and speakers. Filling the stands also improved things, a mixture of sand and lead was best to my ears. I also had a pair of Sound Anchors four post 16" stands built to compare, they were sand and lead filled, very heavy at around 90lbs each......this was a huge improvement over the PMC stands no comparison really between the two!! Mass and stability seem to bring the best out of the IB2i to me anyways.

If your keeping the PMC stands I would pick up some 2" metal bar stock and have them welded to the bottom of the stands, re-paint and your good to go, shouldn't cost much to do.....also fill the stands with sand and or lead shot. I would also run the bar stock side to side instead of front to back as you shown with the 2x4 in your pic, sort of an outrigger effect....also weld some pads on the bottom so you can tap for spikes.

wow paul those stands look like they could be designed better and wider to be sturdier for those beautiful speakers.
are they heavy at all? id get some wood,sand,spikes and a nice piece of something soft for in between as Jeff mentioned and build a new pair. if we lived closer id come help you out. a nice sturdy rock solid base is what all speakers need.
as for now a couple pieces of 3/4 or 11/16 plywood would probably be better than those boards. 2 pieces on top of each other would be the desired height and sturdier than what you have, and you could paint em to match.

Granite can handle spikes, but I do like Sharkmouth's idea of the hockey pucks.

Paul, if you plan on keeping the speakers I would look into getting different stands altogether. Check out these from Skylan...

Different heights are available and they seem more rugged and sturdy than what you have now.

Paul, can you lower your listening chair? ...Or tilt your speakers slightly upwards (3-5° or so)? ...By raising only the front of your speakers from right underneath, between them and the stands' top plate (small rubbers: 1/4-1/2" tall or so).

* Hockey pucks are great for under your chair, loveseat, couch; for raising them when necessary.
{The Official NHL ones are the recommended ones; anything less is inferior, not as effective.}

Wow...Lot of good advice here Thanks guys. I think I'm going to use the slab granite until I decide the keep the PMC then I might going to order the Sound Anchors stands. :yes: going to audition the O/96 tomorrow.
