Hi, did you use Thales easy tonearm before?
I am asking because currently using slim II with easy tonearm, just wondering if there is big improvement

Hi there.

Yes I have used the Simplicity II for around 5 years now. I actually demoed in my system the Thales Easy and I preferred it to my Graham Phantom. I was going to buy the Easy, then my dealer asked if I wanted to hear the Simplicity II. the Simplcity II never went back, I bought it.

Thales Simplicity II sounds more direct and a little more neutral / transparent where the Easy is maybe a little more bottom end weighted. For me it was a big improvement. I would be surprised if you didn't feel the same.

Let me know if you do decide to upgrade.

Haven't used this old gem in a while. 44 years old and still works and looks like new when my father purchased it back in 1979.

Lots of Technics tables on this forum. I still have my SP-10 MKII table as well as the Micro Seiki SX8000.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. These old Technics DD tables are hard to beat, or kill for that matter. Seems that the new ones are equally as good.

I've had several different vintage DD tables over the years including Denon, Luxman, Yamaha and Sansui, as well as several new belt drive units. In the end, I keep coming back to this old SL-1700MK2.

If and when it does give up the ghost, I'll get it completely overhauled/updated and continue using it.
