    Very nice table, congrats.

Ships in quite a few boxes, so difficult to picture the end-result without a little more detail. Turntables Gallery

Looks like you put the Lyra Etna SL on it.

absolutely not. compression springs a treat for turntables of 45kgs and 65 kg's. works more effectively than SRA and Symposium platforms. Minus K platforms are also very good, however a lot more expensive.

do you feel there's an issue with wall mounting ? Great alternative to 'spongy' floors IMO

Not if you have spongy floors and a small footprint turntable with space issues. Even my LP12 sits on a 3 tier mana rack, which sounds better than a wall mount. I own 4 turntables, 2 of them with multiple arms and a concrete floor so don't suffer from free fall issues.

Even if I had spongy floor, wall mount would be totally impractical for myself.

    cheers

the Thales / Lyra Atlas for sure. the SME/SPU is richer, warmer so great for 60's pop, Beatles, Stones etc and it does jazz well.

    Hi there.

Yes I have used the Simplicity II for around 5 years now. I actually demoed in my system the Thales Easy and I preferred it to my Graham Phantom. I was going to buy the Easy, then my dealer asked if I wanted to hear the Simplicity II. the Simplcity II never went back, I bought it.

Thales Simplicity II sounds more direct and a little more neutral / transparent where the Easy is maybe a little more bottom end weighted. For me it was a big improvement. I would be surprised if you didn't feel the same.

Let me know if you do decide to upgrade.

Haven't used this old gem in a while. 44 years old and still works and looks like new when my father purchased it back in 1979.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. These old Technics DD tables are hard to beat, or kill for that matter. Seems that the new ones are equally as good.

I've had several different vintage DD tables over the years including Denon, Luxman, Yamaha and Sansui, as well as several new belt drive units. In the end, I keep coming back to this old SL-1700MK2.

If and when it does give up the ghost, I'll get it completely overhauled/updated and continue using it.

unless I'm wrong (more often than not ), the DL-103 was and is a 'moving coil' cartridge.
