Turntable , location?
Revamped my av config..mid-fi stuff
Have any of you set up a home theater system and then wondered where to put your turntable?
I'm thinking about a slide-out shelf but it's still right next to us center speaker..and obvious isolation issues..
It used to sit on top of this tall rack in the picture but I can't figure out how to make it fit in this configuration....
Thoughts?

Re: Turntable , location?
May be a little off balance but slide the cabinet far left or right to edge of TV and may give you room for the TT, see if moving speakers towards you and slightly out? It may balance things out?

Re: Turntable , location?
You could...
1. Move existing rack (the one that TV sits on) to the side wall. Then set turntable on top of that rack.
2. Get different base for TV or hang TV from ceiling.
3. Buy longer speaker cables.

Re: Turntable , location?
Other thoughts....
IF i wanted to place dedicated TT shelf to right wall, 15' away from main system, is than issue?
Rca cables would need to be 20' long....

Re: Turntable , location?
Jay - In general the signal level from a turntable is relatively low and as such is more susceptible to degradation from long cable runs. It is therefore preferred if you could keep the cable from the tonearm to your phono input as short as possible. One way to achieve this is if you have a stand alone phono stage which can be positioned closer to the turntable, connect it directly and you can then run longer interconnects from the phono stage outputs to your line stage preamplifier. The phono signal after going through the phono stage is at line level which is much less affected by going through a longer length of cable. That's really the most effective way of avoiding long runs of cable carrying the low level phono signal. If it can't be avoided you can try running 20' cables from your turntable into your preamp and it may work but it's not optimal and can definitely compromise performance. Hope that helps.

Re: Turntable , location?
I'd recommend placing the phono stage next to the turntable, and running XLR cables from the phono stage to the rest of your gear if that would be a 20' long run.
