    Cable question

Sorry for another dumb question. Just dipping my toe back in vinyl so relearning much of this stuff. Honestly, I do not recall most of this being a factor back in the day.

Anyway, is it possible to use too high of a cable? What I mean is the U-Turn has standard RCA outputs so I am using the best cables I already own. I have Wireworld Silver Eclipse 7 1.5 m cable out from the table to the SimAudio and a pair of Wireworld Eclipse 5 1.0 m going from the SimAudio to the Preamp.

Are these cables too much. Can a cable be too much and would I be better using a more basic cable. U-Turn offers the basic AudioQuest Evergreen RCA cables. Would it make more sense using a cable like this then the ones I am, which actual cost more then the table?

Thank you for being patient with my silly questions .

    Re: Cable question

Randy, you got 'em, use 'em !

IMO, given the small signal output, the shorter the length the better from TT to phono-pre

That was one concern. I think I will switch the cables, the Silver Eclipse from the SimAudio to the pre-Amp instead.

Ok, just switched the cables... I don't honestly believe I will hear a difference, but might as well do they best I can .

After listening to a couple songs from the same album and as silly as this seems to me, I believe I do hear a slight difference. Tighter bottom end, more open high end. Maybe it is just in my head .

Best cables, in the best position always!

In my experience, U-Turn benefited from cables, mechanical isolation, external phono, cartridge and a record clamp - it can and will go far.

    Re: Cable question

Many turntables uses a RCA coax cable about 1 meter/3 feet long. Different coax cables have different total capacitance. This difference might have a small effect on the very high frequency response of some phono cartridge/pre-amp setups. The cost or goodness of a cable has no relationship to it's total capacitance.

    Re: Cable question

Thanks for the thought. I know the U-Turn uses standard RCA cables not coax because they include basic RCA cables and offer the AudioQuest Evergreen as an upgrade on their website, which is a standard RCA cable.

A good table benefits from good cables. I tested a dozen, before I settled on the Cardas Clear Beyond. Superb detail, superb resolution, great bass, wonderful balance overall.
