actually i'm writing my review for HIFIMUSIC.CO.IL those days, about the simplicity II -
i have it for a few weeks now with an EMT JSD 6 Platinum.
I didn't got the TT just the arm and cart from Micha hubert (Thales owner) via the local dealer.

i can tell you all kind of stuff (and i will), but if you didn't heard a proper linear arm in your life you are in for a really awesome surprise.
i have and had a lot of arms in my audiophile life. currently holding two on my C.A Master innovation - the near top of the line TT2 (linear arm) and their top pivot arm - the UNIversal.
the simplicity II is the best pivot arm i heard in my life period! its takes all the goodness of a linear tracking arm with near perfect line tracking across the LP
without the hustle and "problems" linear arms makers need to solve. its a fantastic tracking (one of the best i heard) with LOT of dynamics and musical involvement. but its still very very smooth and relax. with the new and expensive EMT cart i've got a lot of details and shining top end (not itching!) and equally good bass and mid bass (EMT strongest quality with lot of musical enjoyment).
its an arm to die for and if i didn't had my TT2, i probably would buy it in a second! (maybe il will buy it after all... ) its the closer i got to my TT2 in the way every bit of the music on the record came out crystal clear! no inner-groove distortion, no nothing! you can hear what pressed on the vinyl from start to end in the most profound matter! (Thales got his SIM II to track 0.006% reject of a straight line - this is a huge! engineering triumph!)
i will buy Thales TT and arm combo blind folded! i kid you not.

Great to hear another who has had the opportunity to listen to the Simplicity II. To listen to one is to own one.

    Enjoy

    How true both statements are.

The last week I had the chance to listen the following combinations:

    1. Thales Compact II with Simplicity II & EMT JSD S75
    2. Transrotor Rondino Nero FMD & SME 5009 + TR Figaro
    3. Acoustic Signature Novum & TA-3000

As Phono Preamps I used an Audionet PAM G2 incl. EPC and a Tom Evans The GroovePlus SRX mkII.

By a clear margin the Thales combi with the Tom Evans was the best solution for my ears. The reproduction was well defined in all parts of the complete sound spectrum , detailed but not intrusive with a pleasant touch analogue. The mid and high frequencies were very open and with exceptional details. The bas reproduction was dynamic and well contured.

The Thales-combi was the first analogue gear which for me was better or at least at eye level with my digital solution with the Purist Statement. I am still excited about this feast for my ears.

I also combined the Thales with the Audionet to hear possible differences between the both phono pre´s. The Audionet is a good set, but the Tom Evans is a better match to the Thales.

Congrats. You will love living with and spinning records with the Thales.

Hard to believe I am approaching 12 months with mine and I love it. It is the real deal for tonearms.

What kind of cart would you recommend for the Thales?

personally I love Lyra cartridges. the new Etna SL is superb - but the Thales can handle any cartridge with ease.

@byrdparis: I have looked for your review of the Simplicity II in HIFIMUSIC.CO.IL. Unfortunately I am not able to read it because of the used language. Is there any other source in the internet with an English version of your review?

Another question: Is it worth to think about an alternative tonearm cable. I have chosen the original Thales direct wiring tonearm cable. I use the following other gear:

    - Tom Evans Preamp
    - Vitus Audio SIA-025 + SS-025
    - Gauder Berlina RC 8

Thank´s in advance for your feed back.

There is nothing wrong with the Thales tonearm cable. I preferred my Nordost Valhalla. If you heard the tonearm with the Thales cable, you already know how it sounds.

Are you buying the Thales turntable or ??

    Re: Thales Tonearm

Thank´s XV-1 for your fast and clear reply. I heard the tonearm without the direct wiring version and what I heard I liked very much. With the direct wiring cable version I think it will be one step forward. Your answer in any case is helping me to bring down my update fever. :-)

PS: Yes, I ordered the Simplicity II with the TT Compact II and the EMT JSD S75. Only the Preamp isn´t fixed finally. In the test scenario at my home I listened to the Tom Evans GroovePlus SRX mkII and it sounded very well and harmonized perfectly with the Thales/EMT-combination. Nevertheless I want to audition the big brother, the Mastergroove in addition.

Yes, the direct wiring should be a little better. with tonearm cables, you could be testing and spending money forever for small differences. the tonearm makse the largest difference imo.

enjoy your new table - it will be awesome.
