Ortofon RS309D & Royal GM MKII Cartridge

Finally, I am able to "fill in the blanks", by that I mean the second arm holder on my Dr Feickert Firebird.

Decided on the Ortofon RS309D as its a 12 inch arm (current Triplanar is 9 inch I believe, at most 10). Also, the simplicity of just screwing in the matching Ortofon Royal GM MKII cartridge. No alignment issues at all as they are made to match.

The next step is to get a good Phono Amp.

    Will do Jeff.

However, it will be late May before I can get my hands on it as I will be traveling starting this weekend all the way till mid May before I am home. The current "best priced" Phon Amp I can afford would be the Ortofon ST80. However, the thoughts of getting, once and for all a real good one, held me back. So, I may be doing the e-cheapo way by pluggin in and pulling out between the arms (Triplanr & Ortofon) depending on the flavour I would like to savour. May not be the best match, but it will make do for the moment. Cheers!

Jerry.....Congrats on your Ortofon arm and SPU. I find SPU's can be addicting .....a few that I own are the Royal GM MkII, Meister Silver, Classic E GM MkII, 90th Anniversary and thinking of getting the Mono CG 25 DI MKII and a 85th Anniversary. Happy listening!
