Hello wise people!

Like every Christmas, I want to gift myself an audio improvement after having survived the parenthood of 4 blessings one more year. Problem is I cannot decided what to replace/improve, maybe you can hint me something, this is my (modest) set up:

Sansui AU-317
B&W DM603 S2
Tannoy Mercury M2
B&W AS6
Marantz CD6004
Audiophonics raspdac mini (streamer)

Nothing too fancy, nothing too bad, but apparently I am lacking clarity. I believe it is because of the vintage tone of my amp, so I was thinking on getting a Marantz PM8006, What would be your ideas? I have around 500€

Thanks in advance!!!

I´m not really sure that the lack off "clarity" is due to your amp...

Did you have the chance to try another speakers..?

Is your amp working properly..? May be due to the time it is needed a full recapping...

Hey, thanks for the answer. No, I haven't tried other set of speakers, the problem is I don't have a better pair than the B&Ws.
Regarding the recap, that has always been in my radar. When I bought the amp, the previous owner told me he did some recap, now the extent of it and the quality of the new capacitors... who knows! It could well be that that is part of the "problem". One thing I did was, a tried a Marantz PM7004 and I noticed a big difference in the sound with my current speakers, certainly far more cold and bright, opposite to what I get with the Sansui, very warm sound.
Because I don't have access to more hardware (I'm a foreign living in Germany) I cannot disentangle the issue amplifier vs speakers, the source I'm convinced is not a problem.
The system does sounds good though, maybe it just sounds according to quality of the components but I (wrongly) expect more, could be.

If the 7004 was, an improvement then the 8006 would be a good move. Plus, it would have synergy with your 6004.

I don't know pricing but Vincent Audio might be an option for an amp as well being a German company. I believe the products are made in China.

I had a AU9500 one time and it was excellent. I also heard some of their receivers that were as you describe, a bit woolly and warm. I think you'd be better off buying new and not putting more money into an older amp.

After a long way of thinking, I decided to change the speakers and I got a new pair of B&W 703 S2 and sure, the sound improve a lot! absolutely different from what I had before, more defined and clear, far better!!!
