It has been a busy videoconference year for me. I have used Zoom a lot, and it probably has the best feature set. I love the virtual background function. It also is free for 40-45 minutes at a time. So great for shorter visits. My daughter is out of state at school (PhD work at U of Minn) and has access to a licensed version of Zoom, which we use to see them weekly for a wine social.
Cisco WebEx is an older option that worked for the couple I did with it. GoToMeeting is another old standby that was pretty good for telephone conferencing, but kinda sticky at videoconferencing. Skype is still usable.
Our organization (20 docs, 3 execs, and another 250 workers) uses Office 365 for email (the security of the email...) But Teams is included, and is now our go-to for videoconferencing at this point. I use a product called Doximity, which is a medical networking site. They have voice and video conferencing from the phone (or PC), to the patient's phone, while disguising my cell phone number. It also does not require my patients to have an app, they get a text, that hooks them right up. We are working on getting a teleconferencing app built into our electronic record system, as telemedicine is growing, even for an orthopedist. Zoom did fall out of favor, early in the Covid Event, as it was not "HIPAA Compliant", although I am sure they fixed that as soon as it was noticed as a problem.
There is a Zoom medical society meeting tonight, and a Zoom hospital staff meeting coming up. It will go on, and on. At least I get to sit in comfortable seats now a days.
