Playing loud isn't really the issue- its how much distortion you're getting at those levels. 8 watts on 90dbs isn't going to be kind to it, but will see what you think in the next few weeks.
As far as bass, I use the Tron soundtrack for my demos (tracks 1-2). Check it out sometime.

8 watts? They have 15 watts and play lovely at 92-94db with no distortion. Of course they don't have the dynamic slam of a 300 watt monoblock, but that's not their forte.
Anyway - I bought them for my Spatials - not the Alexia's.'
