Who is the modern audiophile?

Here's something I wonder about: someone buys a system that plays "loud"'and relatively free of traditional distortions (IM, THD and noise) but without much attention paid to imaging, tonal purity, etc, and without much attention payed to system setup, just enough to get it up and running. Is that person an audiophile? Does it also depend on how he/she uses the system (i.e., parties, background, solo listening, or something else)?

I think it depends on their knowledge of effective reproduction of music, not their budget or use.
 
I have no stake in trying to create future business for the audio industry so I don't care what you call me, just don't call me late for dinner.

Neither. I'm wondering, is this the picture of a modern audiophile? $13,000 headphone amp/DAC's and $4,000+ headphones?

Some estimates have the headphone industry at a $10 billion business.

Is this the future? Is this a modern audiophile?
