I have a Consonance d-Linear 15 Power Filter that I bought from Grant Fidelity several years ago. I have it plugged into a generic wall receptacle (that I plan to replace with a Furutech one) and the power filter has 5 double receptacles itself. Would replacing the wall outlet make upgrading the outlets in the power filter unnecessary? The outlets in the power filter are nothing special, I emailed Consonance asking them what type they used and they told me that they were standard U.S. receptacles. Replacing all five of them would be a little expensive (around $1K), half the price of the power filter itself.

I replaced one of the outlets in my Cullen Power Box with a Furutech GTX-D rhodium and left the other two outlets (Leviton brand) as is for now. It was a very tight fit as the wires are very short inside but at least my two mono tube amps can use the better receptacle. I haven't actually had a chance to audition them yet as I have been busy with work but the improvement of the Cullen box over a generic power strip was not subtle.

Has anyone upgraded their power filter with better outlets?

I think all of this helps. It's surprising in some ways that a $150 receptacle makes such a difference.

Well I just ordered 6 more Furutech GTX-D gold receptacles. Five to upgrade the stock ones in the Consonance power filter and one for the Consonance to plug into. It should be a fun spring break project for the last week in March. This time I took advantage of the free burn-in offered by the dealer as well.

I also managed to find a pair of second hand but unused Oyaide WPC-Z wall base plates and receptacle covers today for half price. Icing on the cake.

I plan on doing a similar thing when I purchase my next power conditioner. That will be a Bryston BIT 20 model, most likely a AVR2 series. I plan to have the GTX-D NCF(R) receptacles installed at the factory and I might get the IEC upgraded as well to Furutech's only 20A IEC, the FI-33, I would get the R version. I would prefer one with NCF tech to match the receptacles however Furutech doesn't offer one at this time. So if the FI-33 will fit in the chassis cut-out I'll get it.

I have found these to be helpful, but did note that it took almost an entire month of break in to fully bloom to it's fullest potential
