What happened to SOTA

"by the way, one of the finest tables I ever owned didn't have either air bearing or clamping. It is the Roksan Xerxes with the Artemiz arm. The designer had some incredible ideas and solutions to record playback. I read the white paper and remember thinking this guy had really given the whole thing a tremendous amount of thought."

Touraj may be the smartest guy in the business when it comes to mechanical engineering.

You may be right. I remember meeting him for the first time about 20 years ago when Bryston distributed Roksan in Canada. Brilliant guy with tremendous passion.

I've owned a SOTA Comet for five years. I had an RP6 for awhile when I had two turntables and I thought the SOTA was quite a bit better.

I've been wanting to upgrade and have spent the past three months researching pretty much every turntable company out there.

Just today I had my dealer order me a SOTA Jewel with a Jelco tonearm.

I really believe SOTA offers the best tables for the money.

Rob, I have no Suspended wood floor experience, on solid tile floors and sand loaded TT rack, the SOTA with the ET tonearm was way better than a VPI classic , not even close in that setup.

The pump was a PITA thou .... :)

which linear tracker? I've had the ET-2 arm on a Star and it was an unmitigated disaster on a suspended wood floor. In that scenario the HW19 and TNT worked much better with that arm.

I had a SOTA Star Sapphire table with the ET-2 and it was not a marriage made in heaven. I didn't have footfall problems because my stereo rooms have always had concrete sub floors. The ET-2 on my VPI TNT was a much better match.
