I just purchased the San Francisco Symphony's West Side Story from Blue Coast Music. It was originally recorded at 96/24 - I downloaded the DSF files. The download contained a very nice .pdf booklet describing the conductor Michael Tilson Thomas's relationship with the great music conductor/composer Leonard Bernstein. I'll give it a listen tomorrow!

I have four recordings of West Side Story.

West Side Story 1957
West Side Story 1985
West Side Story 1997
West Side Story 2014

This one is very well recorded and the voices are excellent--operatic in quality-- just like the 1997 recording, but like all the ones after the original, it lacks the fun, intensity and excitement of the original. You have the impression of a very good recording, but not the excitement of watching things unfold. The last two are kind of robotic performances.
