...Placed the first of two orders for my new audio system. Ordered the Harbeth Super HL 5+ 40th Anniversary Edition speakers, along with cables and stands. I know there are still a few of the 40th Anniversary Harbeths out there but we were having some difficulty finding the walnut veneer version. Harbeth is making me brand new walnut veneer versions as we speak, fresh out of the "speaker making machine." Could take a month or two.
That's just fine with me as I'm not placing the second order until Jan. 2, my birthday. I was right in placing the Harbeth order now as they are a limited production item. I could still have gotten the limited production models but finding them in the walnut veneer was becoming a challenge.
The second order will likely include a Luxman 509x integrated amp, Lumin D2, and Roon Nucleus along with any more necessary cables that I might need. As mentioned in earlier threads, another reason I'm dividing the order between this year and next is for tax reasons since the money is coming from my pension.
Ninety five percent of my listening will be digital, although I have a late '80s/early '90s Technics direct drive automatic turntable (DD33) in mint condition that has been gathering dust in my basement store room. It was given to me by my sister after the sudden death of my brother-in-law several years ago. I plan on trying it out after I have it checked and serviced as necessary. Now, if I can just figure out a way to keep myself occupied for the next seven months...
