Vivid G1 Spirit review

I heard the Spirits last Friday in Philip and Joe Cali's room at the LA Show. When the coast was clear and there were but a few of us in the room, he played a hires file of Michael Jackson's thriller at ear splitting levels and it was very satisfying. No compression with nary a trace of hardness and that bass! the kind you feel as well as hear.
 
Having heard the G1 recently in the LA show, I couldn't agree more. Yes, one of the finest speaker.
 
They were also very nice sounding in the Munich setup with Trinnov electronics.

Can definitely confirm the lack of hardness of any sort, despite very nice resolution.

I've liked the Vivids I've heard at shows, it always seemed that something was lacking but could never put my finger on it. They just didn't make my toe tap as I wanted.

Maybe the new versions have that extra it factor.
 
Vivids do play loud. I heard the G1s at Axpona but was not able to hear their full potential (as it is always in shows!). I've heard the small B's rock so I can imagine that these have got to really rock!
 
I am debating between G2 and G3 for the store. I've ordered G3's, but I really wanted the G2! Philip advised that the G3 was the way to go for the demo room I intend to put them in (18 x 25). Thoughts?

What's retail of the G2 and G3?

If he recommended the G3 for a room 18x25 - what size room would the G2 be for? Let alone the G1?

He said I could go either G2/G3, but recommended G3 since it's the most popular fit for most Florida average home rooms (15 x 20 typical).

A few clients of mine who all own Vivid's also recommend the G3 for me.

G2 is $50,000 MSRP in standard finish
G3 is $40,000 MSRP in standard finish

Hi Mike,

Philip had posted general recommendations in a forum.. "The G4 would work well in a 150 / 200 sq ft room, G3 in a 300 sq ft room....""....G2 - 400 sq ft +, G1 - 500 sq ft ++++ "
 
I figured it was time to join the fun. I will be curious to hear what Mike has to say regarding the Magico S3/S5 Mk II vs the Vivid…..and maybe the Gryphon Mojo S?

I had the B1's (originals) on trade and they were excellent in the 17 x 25 room.

Mike...there is an old saying in Aus...5 million flies can't be wrong...seems like the G3 is the go...

But between you me & the gate post...the Spirit/Vitus pairing should be a match made in heaven...
