Vitus vs Soulution vs CH

Incidentally, the WBF user who preferred ARC to Gryphon has since swapped his Ref 40 + Ref 250 for the Gryphon Pandora + Mephisto. Can't say it was a bad decision :)

All a moot point for those of us here in the U.S. ARC is readily available, Gryphon is not.

By some of the descriptions, Gryphon sounds a lot like the big XS Pass amps.

LOL, Mike if you keep insisting on talking about Gryphon, I'm going to have to arrange a road trip for you to experience it first hand......

Gryphon amps are intriguing. At one point, I made a serious effort to purchase their reference stereo version. But the lack of a US distributor quickly turned the adventure into a fool's errand.

I have since a lot of years Kondo M7 ksl, phono GE 1 and 2 Souga to biamp my speaker.

I listen different time Soulution,But i listen very well in the shop of my friend near my home,CH L1 and 2 A1,Pass XS and XS 300,Rowland 925,Gryphon Pandora with Mephisto stereo, Dan D agostino mono and Esoteric Grandioso.
Speaker Alexia,Rockport Cygnus.
All good amp but i always liked triode amp and i had no big interest to listen well these amps.

One day i listen well CH with one speaker i never liked and i found a sound very fast, natural, transparent, very very good and CH shocked me.
This shop had all this amp in stock and in 2 days we tried all,and i found CH better of others for my test.
Then my friend borrow to me CH,L1,X1 and 2 A1 to try in my home.I was sure in my system Kondo was better, but at the end i found CH with same natural sound on mid, with more low and high frequencies, sound more fast, seems like Kondo was a dirty sound, less natural.
So was incredible for me and i bought CH L1,C1,X1 and 2 A1.Next month i will buy P1,an incredible phono,i already tried.

Hi Gianluigi,

Congratulations on finding a set of components that work so well for your preferences.

I've heard very positive comments on the CH P1 (phono stage). And coincidentally, I'll have an opportunity to hear the CH L1 and P1 in two weeks. Definitely looking forward to it.

Previously had the CH A1 monos and the C1. Really liked the ability to configure the amp parameters for your specific preferences.

I now use both Soulution 701 monos and the Kondo Kaguras to drive my speakers and find that they both sound great in their own way.

It's great that audio technology can help each of us find the sound that best appeals to us.

Congratulation for your Kagura.
In the last 15 years i had 2 Ongaku,2 Gakuon,Neiro Silver,Kageki and now 2 Souga.
My ideas was to buy new preamp G 1000 and sell my M7,but at the end i had a good opportunity to buy CH and i am very happy,so i have 2 system, one with CH and one with Kondo.
My dream is to buy M1 for low and mid and use my A1 in mono for tweeter, even if is stupid use only A 1 for tweeter, but their sound is so pure that i would like to try.
You have to listen P1 with X1,i tried in my home and in my friend home and sound is better in every parameter with X1,absolutely to buy in a second step.
I tried P1 against my GE1 with Silvercore MC pro trans.,but P1 was better in everything.

One question,if you have to choose to have only or Soulution or Kagura, which amp you will keep?
Ciao

Hi Gianluigi,

Thank you for your response.

I've only had the Kaguras since June and have been listening to them almost exclusively so that I could reach the 300+ hour burn-in target.

So actually it's only been a little over a week that I plugged in the Soulution 701s since the summer; in part, in preparation for testing a number of different DACs and music players next week.

I am using a Kondo M1000 mkII as a preamp (with built in phono stage) but it doesn't match well with the 701s, so I am running my DACs (Pacific Microsonics Model 2, Phasure NOS1a, Meridian Ultra) directly into the 701s.

I have to tell you that the 701s and the Kaguras driving the Magico Q7s mkIIs are both very special. The sound during late evenings jumps into the realm of magic.

I've paid a lot of attention recently to lowering the noise in my system (Shunyata Denali power conditioner, Furutech NCF power cord connectors, outlets and wall plates, Entreq grounding boxes plus already previously installed dedicated lines and an electrical panel). This has transformed the sound from great sounding but with mechanical remnants to bordering on magical.

So to answer your question, I am just going to start comparing the 701s and the Kaguras as soon as the DAC comparisons are completed and my analog system (Kodo The Beat Turntable, Kobd SFz SUT, Kyra Atlas and Kondo IO carts) is optimized before the end of this month.

So that's a long winded response to your short question which I still haven't answered.

But it's like having to choose between Ferrari and Porsche, or Gibson and Fender, blondes or redheads, or digital and analog.

If you put a gun to my head and forced me to choose, more than likely my answer would be the Kaguras on the analog side, and the 701s on the digital side.

But I can tell you that it's a good thing I don't have to choose :)

Thank you Gianluigi for explainng your experiences at length, this is very educational.
