Used XP25 vs new XP17..which one?

Which route would you go? I am exploring a used XP25 that I have never heard. However I have demo a XP17 at home which i found unbelievably good. Would the 17 have newer stuff inside that may supersede the 25 in sound? I acknowledge the 25's external controls are a huge convenience.
