I’ve got a U1 Mini. Until recently, I always just played files remotely (from my Naim Uniti Core), and never had any issues. Recently decided I wanted to play mostly from a USB stick, thinking of selling the Uniti Core. Bought a 1TB USB stick and threw my music library on it (about 400 GB, 700+ albums from 350+ artists). Plugged the stick in the back of my Lumin, went to the app and selected the USB stick as the music library . . . And the app was much slower when working from the stick. Bringing the app up and getting the list of artists is the thing that’s really slow. In just a couple of seconds, I get the first 30% or so of the artists, from A to D. It takes more than 30 seconds to get the next group, up into the Rs. It’s right about a minute to get the full list.
I’ve read through the guide on the Lumin site, played with many settings, and found nothing that helped. Using the remote files from the Uniti Core is still fast.
I’ve got a flat directory structure on the USB stick — one directory for each artist at the root level of the stick, then each album is a subdirectory under the artist. Haven’t tried any other directory arrangement. Not sure if that matters.
I have the most current firmware on the U1 Mini, and the most current app on my iPad and iPhone. I see the same behavior on both the iPhone and the iPad.
Has anyone else seen this? Any idea about how I might mitigate it?
