Hi everyone Does any one have any experience with replacing stock tubes in c2500?
Thanks

Hi Mc Sounds,

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, in my C2300 I replaced the stock tubes with Tesla and the sound was head and shoulders better. Even Gold Lions will be better, in my opinion, than stock.

I rolled Tesla 12AX7's and it took the 2500 up quite a few notches in terms of resolution, clarity, depth of soundstage, etc.

Is replacing the tubes more difficult with the location of the tubes in the top of the amp? This is different than the c2300 and c2200

No. Take the top off (8 screws or so), then remove the four to six screws (two to three on each side) holding the tubes in place. Remove the top part of that tube stage (it's the part with the six tiny holes in it for the top of the tubes to come out. Then, using cloth gloves or rubber gloves, remove the stock tubes carefully. Then carefully align the pins of the new tubes and press them into place. If you're sure the tubes are aligned properly, you may need a little bit muscle to get them in flush. Just don't push if the pins aren't aligned. You'll be able to see them aligned as there is a gap on one side which corresponds with a gap in the tube base.

Place the top back on on the tube stage. Screws back in. Top back on. Screws back in. Done. Give the new tubes a 100 hours or so to reach their break in stage.

Thanks Mike. By the way I love the c2500. Just bought a Classic 3 turntable with Lyra cartridge and it sounds wonderful! Cant wait to try new tubes. Any experience with Mullards?

No experience with Mullards in the 2500. I went with Tesla's - which I understand are a little tougher to get now.

Congrats on the Classic 3 and Lyra cart! I love mine.

I looked up the Tesla tubes and they seem to be hard to find. Where did you get them? Thanks
