Hey, no thread on Maverick?
This deserves its own space.
From the opening we are treated to a well recorded song, punchy in the guts and rattling all the bones. It is very reminiscent of the original (1986); to the letter.
Actually the entire film is like a copycat of Tony Scott's 'Top Gun'.
Tom Cruise is still here and we have an emotional appearance by Val Kilmer.
The rest of the cast is new; an interesting bunch of young actors, and few old farts too for good measure.
The aerial sequences are well executed, the main attraction.
Don't take my word for it ...
If I was going to rate the film I would give it 70; film value only.
Technical merits (sight and sound): 88
Acting: 66
Overall: 75 (4K UHD HDR Blu-ray)
