Yep, agree with the tight NOS Jap pressings. They can still be found, a beautiful thing.
 
It may not be as relevant as it once was but, when I did most of my vinyl hunting, the first thing I would do was flip the cover over and see if there was a Bar Code. I would then pull out the record and check for spindle marks. Early pressings of the stuff I was looking for would not have a Bar Code. Bar Codes came in about the same time as when digital became all the rage. I have a very large vinyl collection and except for the newly released audiophile pressings, there are relatively few Bar Codes in my collection.
