When I stream from Tidal over my Macbook Pro, my Auralic Vega DAC indicates that it is playing a 176.4KS digital format. Since Tidal streams lossless at CD quality, I would expect to read 44.1 (as I do when I play CD's with a CD transport). Any guess as to why this is? I thought it might be the Vega's upsampling function, but it upsamples redbook files from the CD or J River while still reading 44.1.

So you're connecting the Mac directly to the Vega's USB? Using Tidal's Mac app or the browser?

Ah. I recommend you use the Mac app... Much simpler!
If you want to keep using the browser, run Audio MIDI Setup. There, find the Vega USB. It's most likely set up to 24/176. Switch to 16/44.
What's happening right now is that Tidal is playing 16/44, but the Mac is upsampling it to 24/176, as that's what's configured in the output, in Audio MIDI Setup.
If you go through the app, it will switch the output automatically to 16/44 for you...
You should notice an improvement in SQ if you do either thing (switch to the app, or configure Audio MIDI Setup).

Shockingly not everything in Tidal's Library is Lossless 16 bit / 44kHz. :D

Please share the track in question. Thanks.
