The new lay-out

Indeed. I had many of those character building days with SAP, Oracle, JDE myself. Prepared me to retire, done!
I remember having to write an entire scientific paper that was published in The Proceedings of the National Academy of the Sciences (aka “PNAS”) using the “text editor” of a VAX/VMS. Those were the days; that was a real hassle.

I'm really pleased to see that the Windows' Refresh button now works - before one had to scroll to the top and click New Posts.

However I'm wondering if there's a way to see all New Posts within Audio & Video without having to specify a sub-forum first. If I use General Audio Discussion, I miss out on the other less used sub-forums such as Amplifiers. unless I click on each in turn. Or have I missed something? Thanks

Click new posts. Works for me. But I don’t think for each individual forum.

Thank you Mike. I had missed a trick - New Posts is found under What's New - I'd been looking under Forums. I'll bookmark that link.

New format is fast and smooth. I’m sure I’ll learn how to use it better over time. Well done Mike and co.

Another trick is to go to New Posts, copy the url, then edit your bookmark with the new posts url and every time you click your bookmark you go to the New Posts

Is it just me or does the first post in every thread now contain an ad?

George

Mike and team,

I like the new site very much, thank for all the hard work to make it happen.

Has anyone reported incidences of ads coming up on every page? Examples are below.

This is the only site that has this behavior of the many audio, non audio, etc I visit for work and non-work purposes, and I do have ad-blocker preventative software and settings in place.

Yup. We have ads running to help fund the site. We could have 9,742 banners like some sites and take funding from brands who will ask us to delete posts they don’t like or ban people who say something negative about their product or we can charge an annual fee (which nobody will pay, one site bans you if you don’t pay) or we can do this. I only see an ad here or there myself. You shouldn’t be seeing them on every post of a single thread.

They appear on the top of every page and sometimes one is also in between messages on a thread however, that is infrequent.

Thank you for answer.

I use an iPad, and use vanilla Safari. I see ads. Under the main Logo, in the first post in a thread, and sometimes one lower in a longer thread. Certainly not as intrusive as some other sites, and not related to audio, as Mike said, and for that reason.

I suspect that ad blockers, used in some browsers may stop the ads. When I used those in the past, there was slowing of the browsing, or even malfunction of the site. I have not been using them of late.

The old site let me donate $, and not show ads. That’s why I brought it up earlier. Does not seem to be a feature on the new one. Not a real game killer to me. I will continue use enjoy the site, and buy stuff from Mike!

On the other hand, tried the site here at work. I use the standard Corporate Windows PC with the Brave Browser, and there are no ads.
