The Hidden FM Radio Inside Your Pocket, And Why You Can't Use It

And some info: if AT&T and Verizon carriers move to allow it, your going to need your little headphones connected, since that is your antenna for FM service. And from some news industry letters I still get, Sprint and T-mobile turned the FM chip on back in 2015. On the Sprint phones its via Moto-E. Tap the FM Radio app, select a station and off ya go.

Thank you Chris!

I appreciate the follow up.

My new Samsung Galaxy S7 has the FM chip. I am on the AT&T network and the FM chip is active. Go to the Google Play Store, download the free app NextRadio, plug in your earphones and enjoy. I am listening to the Galaxy S7's FM tuner right now. Sounds damn good.

That's Groovy Man

Now Apple that's another story in itself. It appears Apple is preventing that from occurring in their phones.

Chris.......The carriers want you to be streaming. They are praying you'll go over your data limit so they can kick in those extra fees. I don't know why Apple would be dragging their feet on the FM chip unless they are simply catering to the carriers.

Apple is trying to catch up to Samsung in some ways. They finally have a water resistant phone with the new iPhone 7. Samsung had it with the Galaxy S5 two years ago and so does the new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Apple still doesn't offer wireless charging. Samsung's wireless fast charger is fantastic. I just lean my phone on the pad and it immediately begins charging. No wires to plug in, not sockets to wear out. Samsung provides expandable memory. I installed a 128GB SD card in my Galaxy S7. It can be expanded to 256GB in addition to the phones internal memory, and it can be encrypted if you need the extra layer of security.

Both Apple and Samsung go back and forth with leading features. Both phones are amazing pocket computers, phones and cameras. It's hard to go wrong with either one. I prefer the Samsung Galaxy S7, but hey, that's just me.
