Was looking at the The Beatles Let It Be (Special Edition) Super Deluxe Half-Speed Mastered LP set that is coming. Looked interesting (perhaps even as a collector item) but when I saw "mastered from original rooftop 8 track"... 8-Track? Wasn't the cassette a better playback medium than an 8-track? Or am I missing something?


"The Let It Be album has been newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell. All the new Let It Be releases feature the new stereo mix of the album as guided by the original "reproduced for disc" version by Phil Spector and sourced directly from the original session and rooftop performance eight-track tapes."

Hi Serge…..not sure if you are joking if not my apologies. The 8-track mentioned is a console that accepts any combination of 8 microphone or instrument input cables to be mixed later on.
