The 11 best Neil Peart (Rush drummer) quotes about life ...

I thought this might be an issue after I posted, I didn’t read them all.

I think, in my own opinion of course, that maybe #3 isn’t what some would like to see or hear, much like many things that get spouted every day. We all have the ability to still move on even if it doesn’t fit our own compass. Something so many forget in this “me too” thing. We have choices to move on, or drag ourselves and others through the mud. It has come to almost not wanting to say anything for fear it might upset someone. Tough world we live in these days, and I fear it will get worse before it gets better. Maybe.

Ya think? The real point here is that most audio forums have strict rules against bringing politics into the forums. It can turn "friends" into real enemies quickly. Nothing good ever comes from politics being injected into audio forums. It's entirely preventable and can be nipped in the bud. Joe should have known better, but he claimed he didn't read all the way down to #3 before he posted a link to the pearls of wisdom. Now Joe is going to keep an eye on this thread.

I am sure Joe will do a fine job in keeping things in check if it needs to go there. I do agree keeping religion, politics, and hifi out of a forum as this, as it all can become such a tangled, contentious mess! :)

Thank you. I thought maybe having some quotes from Neil Peart might be important to those Rush fans here. He was very talented and will be missed.

I think that the intent of the quotes was to provide a more comprehensive view of the man (not just the musician) in quotes.
In that respect, I feel that the quotes are appropriate as they present a more encompassing image of the man for those who did not know him. We do not need to agree with everything that he said, and everyone is free to discard what they don’t like.

Neil rode a motorcycle to almost every Rush show. He had a riding partner with the same motorcycle ( BMW GS ) and a chase RV they slept in. If he had a problem with his motorcycle he swapped with his partner and left him to take care of the broken bike. He wrote about multiple books about his travels and he also wrote pretty much all of Rush's lyrics. He was never interested in the "meet and greet" fan events that Rush was a part of, it was always Getty and Alex that participated. He was a very thoughtful person that will be missed.

While it interesting to read some quotes, I have never understood the fascination with what entertainers have to say. Dylan and Cat Stevens had some pretty deep lyrics. But to me, most others make pretty things to look at and listen too.

Tom Sawyer exemplifies the best of his many musical talents IMHO. RIP.

6 – “I remain the optimist: you just do your best and hope for the best. But it’s an evolving state of mind.”

This has to be one of my favourites

I'm not too fond of Neil's philosophies but I'm a huge fan of his talents as a musician, artist, and entertainer.
