Hi folks, Happy Friday! Starting to read a lot about the new T+A gear. Any impressions? Sounds like a very "progressive" company. The MP3000HV got a lukewarm review somewhere, but I guess The new MP3100HV would take care of that. I notice a more expensive PDP (?) 3000HV. I wonder what the difference is between that and the MP3100HV. If anyone can explain it, please talk to me like I'm a 4 y.o.. Thanks!!!!

Jim - I guess you haven't been reading my posts on T+A over the past 3 years! It's incredibly well built (up there with the best). The MP3100HV takes the electronics from the PDP3000HV and improves on it. I suspect there will be a PDP3100HV one day.

I haven't seen any "Luke warm" reviews of any T+A HV series piece.

Hi-Fi News is constantly reviewing and raving about T+A. If you have a subscription (electronic), you can find their most recent review of the latest T+A HV series gear.

TAS has also reviewed T+A HV gear very favorably.

Suffice it to say, I'm a HUGE fan.

Sorry Mike, But I can't really find many. Maybe start their own section? I'll try to find the MP3000HV review. Can you explain the difference between the MP3100HV and the higher priced (?) PDP3000HV?

T+A gear has tank like build quality. As Mike says - right up there with the best.

The PDP3000HV is their flagship digital product.
It has a better SACD Transport with discrete DSD & PCM stages.
More like a pure Transport with no streaming service support as far as I can tell.

The MP3100HV is PCM only with inbuilt streaming support for online music services like Tidal etc.

Have you seen this review on Positive Feedback?

Thank you Nikhil, That sort of sorts it out a bit. I wonder what the MP3100HV upgrade from the MP3000HV is? From what I've read, it seems quite close to the PDP3000HV. Mike, when I do a search for T+A nothing comes up. Maybe a few links? Thanks!!!!

The MP 3100 now also accepts SACD disks and DSD up to DSD512 via USB and uses the same native DSD processing of the PDP3000.

On the Munich fair I was asking one of the T&A guys which one sounds better, the PDP 3000 or the MP 3100. The guy said that the new MP would have a slight edge over the PDP.

Nikhil anyway is right if he says that the PDP has the better transport mechanism.

The MP3100HV has updated online services for Tidal, Qubuz, etc as well as FM-HD & DAB+ The DSD DAC supports upto DSD512
The MP3000HV is PCM only upto 384KHz and does not support the new online music services

Jim - the MP3100HV is the way to go. I spoke to my T+A rep yesterday and he reiterated that the MP3100HV sounds slightly better than the PDP3000HV and features all the new technology.

I'm still predicting we will see a PDP3100HV one day, but nothing mentioned yet.

The new PA 3100HV integrated is also worth looking at. You can add the external PSU to the new integrated as well.

Just looking….. Many options at this point. SIA-030 etc… You know what they say, sometimes the best thing to do is nothing…… I may have to finally travel across the state for a visit...

Jim - I can't wait to see the SIA-030. I will also have the Gryphon Diablo 120 and Diablo 300 if you want to borrow them to try, along with a demo 3100HV I can get. You can just drive down now, right? You're in Florida now?

Man, integrated amps are sooooo good these days.

This is T+A's communication about the differences between the PDP 3000 and the MP 3100 (I got them through my dealer):

1.) wesentlich teureres Laufwerk im PDP (aus dem Vollen gefräste Schublade, präzisions-Spindelantrieb mit 4Phasen-Synchronmotor etc...)
3.) Verdoppelte Stabilität der Laufwerkslagerung durch wesentlich stärkere Schubstangen und vierfache Lagerung (statt zweifacher im MP)
4.) stabilerer Brick-Loader statt Tray-Loader
5.) Schwingungsdämfung der Disc mit gedrehtem Vollmetallpuck
6.) bessere mech.

In short: better transport, better power supply, damping, different path for DSD and PCM. The PDP is the better device but has less features.

Not the most idiomatic but Google translate has helped me read many a German language review:

1.) much more expensive drive in the PDP (from the full milled drawer, precision spindle drive with 4phase synchronous motor etc ...)
3.) Double the stability of the drive bearing by significantly stronger push rods and quadruple bearing (instead of more doubly in the MP)
4.) more stable brick loader instead of tray loader
5.) Vibration damping of the disc with turned full metal puck
6.) better mech. Drive decoupling with 4 times higher attenuation mass
7.) complete electromagnetic shielding of the drive by complete metal encapsulation
8.) Completely different converter with separate analog parts for PCM and DSD
9.) completely different digital part with separate signal paths for PCM and DSD
10.) other power supplies, more complex voltage stabilization, double screen capacities
