Hello folks,
I connected today my Shindo gear to the Harbeth 40.1 speakers in my new room, for the very first time.
The sound is just to die for.
My previous room was too heavily absorbing for the Shindo gear and a part of the treble energy and magic was lost with a balance tilted to the bass.
Now the Shindo gear does magic in my new untreated and more reverberant room.
The sweetness of the Shindo gear is completely in phase with the clear acoustics of the room. The energy and extension of the treble is more controlled and musical. And the bass is still to die for.
I am so glad that I kept my CCQs. They are just perfect in this room. And while not "approved" and kosher, the wedding between the CCQs and the Harbeth 40.1 is made in heaven.
On a side note my Giscours came back from a complete check up. It had an unbalanced response of the R and L channels for the phono inputs, both MM and MC, with the right channel output being much stronger than the left.
Switching the phono tubes R > L and L >R did not solve the problem.
My technician found that the problem came from the suspended input tubes. One resistance had no more contact. He explained to me that those tubes should be replaced only by opening the preamp and holding the tube base.
I also had a similar problem on one of my CCQ. These suspended tubes are touchy. Beware.
