Not all the well photo documented, but read about the Eaton CHSPT2ULTRA the other night,

I quickly found it on Amazon for $113, and it is listed on other sites for close to $300 and knew I have ignored this for too long, so I purchased it, and installed - a 30 minute project, all went well, ran it into its own 50 amp breaker, plus ground and neutral connections in the panel - this is literally a no brainer and offers protection at a level higher not only for the Hi Fi but the whole home.

Eaton also include $75K insurance with exclusions, although only denting the replacement value in my home, but better then nothing under extreme circumstances

Environmental Potentials has been the gold standard for surge and spike protection. They are mostly designed for commercial applications but do have several models useable for home installation.
However they are fairly expensive.
It's nice to see a reasonably price alternative.
Thanks for the heads up.
