I've owned 800's and 801's pre and post "D" tweeters. I still think that they are at the top of the heap in Price / Performance ratio. Nice addition to your line card Mike.
Thanks Sean. That's about what I thought they were priced at. I played through a set at a local shop. Very impressive. I also had the opportunity to play through some Revel F228s. They held their own very well. A little heavier on the bass vs the B&Ws. But not in a bad way.
The amps used to demo both speakers were McIntosh (can't remember which model) and an Acoustic Research 75VSi. Both amps were outstanding. My ears very slightly favored the AR...a little different style of sound. The Mc was like a great prime rib and the AR like a great ribeye. So there ya go. Now you know exactly what both amps sound like.
Concrats to Suncoast Audio! I own the 802D3 in my Norway system and its a great speaker that compares well to other, much more expensive, systems I hear at shows. Due to economics of scale B&W can sell at reasonable prices which makes some people look down their nose at them, unfairly IMO. Enjoy!
