Suddenly no gapless playback

Hello, I just noticed that I’m not getting gapless playback any more. I checked all of my settings and it doesn’t look like anything is amiss, but I must be missing something!

I am running Qobuz. Four consecutive tracks from an album in the Lumin app, selected one at a time and added to playlist with the remove and replace current playlist option. This has always resulted in gapless playback of the four tracks until now.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

Please power cycle the Lumin unit. Clear the playlist, tap and hold a different album art to play the whole thing in a playlist. Check if the gapless works.

Peter, I’m sorry to report that following those steps didn’t solve the problem. Hitting the sack, but I will check messages tomorrow. Thanks!

That's very unusual, and we have not changed the gapless playback implementation for a long time. Please make sure Custom Re-sampling is set to off.

Please try different non Hi-Res albums (i.e. 16/44.1).

Please make sure you do not have any other UPnP music control app running on any device on your whole network, including all your phones, tablets, and computers.

Peter, thanks. I will check all of that out later, and I’ll also try the same albums on TIDAL in case it might be a Qobuz bug. Busy day, will report back as soon as I can. I appreciate the help.

No luck yet. After power cycling, turning Custom Upsampling off and choosing 16/44 files of three different albums from the Lumin app, both TIDAL and Qobuz played my tracks gaplessly the first attempt and both returned to gaps upon successive attempts.

Qobuz and TIDAL both played gaplessly as usual on the computer and iPhone.

Not sure if anything UPnP is interfering, but I do know that I didn't add any music control apps to any of my devices between the time I was getting gapless playback (last week) and now.

Pretty frustrating!

Please turn off the Lumin device, iPad and other network devices such as NAS. Power cycle the router and all network switches / WiFi access points. Wait for a few minutes, then power up the Lumin and iPad.

Right. This is especially necessary for concert recordings and some classical music.

Thanks. I have noticed that Classical music does not rip cleanly.

Side 2 of Abbey Road has several songs that are gapless. You can check that album if you have ripped it. If you are not getting gapless from ripped discs, and the original disc plays gapless in your system, it looks that you are not getting perfect rips.

Peter, sorry for taking so long to reply. This resolved itself without having to power-cycle the router.

I have a funny suspicion that it may have had something to do with the fact that I’ve been breaking in new equipment 24X7 with Repeat and Shuffle both enabled with a playlist running, and it might have taken the app some time to catch up once I disabled both for further testing.

Regardless, everything is working perfectly now, and if the problem returns I know to try power cycling the router. Thank you!

Blue Fox - In my case, it wasn’t ripped music but cuts 3-6 of The Wall on Qobuz in the LUMIN app that were temporarily playing with gaps. I know, it’s only 16/44 and it’s not the most complex or challenging music and all but it’s one of my long term go-to’s for evaluating equipment swaps.

Hearing a few seconds of silence at the end of “Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 1” where it should flow seamlessly into “The Happiest Days of Our Lives” had me discombobulated and disoriented for a minute...
