Agreed! Well said. That is unfortunately the norm on most forums, too many people with an uninformed opinion and no real world experience.
That's what makes this place even better, we have real world users with informed opinions to take away from.
I started a thread here that was exactly to Stevens Point. Should people be commenting on products they've never heard. I'm guilty of it myself. I have never heard the Gigafoil, but I have been very suspect about whether it does everything all the users are claiming it does.
Sometimes it's hard to not have biases. So many people come forth claiming power conditioners are a dream come true. While I may not have heard the specific conditioner they are referring to, and more importantly, in the setting where it is located, I have heard quite a few in my house and created my own personal bias about all of them from my limited exposure. I say limited because darn, there are a whole lot of them out there.
Anyhow, Steve definitely has a point. Although a lot of what he is experiencing is more likely trolls. The longer I live the more shocked I am at how many people just want to say "No"
I learned early on that for 10 audiophiles discussing a given product, you're lucky to have only 10 opinions, and, more concerning is that an opinion was virtually never based on hearing the specific product at all, let alone hearing it in at least a similar physical environment.
Dissolve 30 or 40 years later... Not much has changed. Insert your favorite audio product here: ___________________ I can tell you, it sucks, or, it's an absolute sonic miracle- just ask around.
