SPODs in the house

The SPODs for the S5 MKII arrived today. However, based on past Friday night experiences I am not going to try and install these myself, but wait until a friend can help next week. Since I am still loving my new Shunyata Denali for each amp, I can live without the SPODs for a week. :)

Congrats on going for the SPods Bud, and for posting the high res photos :congrats:. The SPods look more substantial (bigger) than I originally thought & look beautifully engineered. They should look really good under the S5 Mk2's. I'm considering ordering a set myself, so i'm looking forward to reading your feedback. Agreed, that is a two-man job for safety. I think Myles B Astor spiked his S5 Mk2's by himself, but then again that guy is put together.

David, thanks, but I don't know about the high-res photos. They are iPhone 7. :)

To be honest, I thought they were smaller than what I had envisioned based on previous photos. These will fit under each S5 outrigger. I was worried they would stick out.
 
Those pics look pretty good to me :audiophile:. I guess photos can be deceiving. The most important thing is the SPods have been optimized for the S5 Mk2 & as Mike said, atleast on carpet they work like a charm. I'm looking forward to your impressions how they work on your floor boards with the floor protectors.
 
SPOD are significantly smaller than QPOD (I have both). Mystery to me why light-weight source components sit on QPOD but heavy speakers sit on SPOD. Seems to me to be the wrong way around. Other than the size of SPOD was limited by clearance requirements of existing speaker designs.

It all depends on what purpose they've been designed for. Stillpoints Ultra 6's for example aren't that much smaller than the Ultra 5's, but are designed for amps and front end components. Whereas the Ultra 5's were originally designed for Grand piano's weighing up to 500kg!

Also, don't forget that the M3 & M6 sit on a tripod with 3 MPods, whereas the S1/S3/S5 Mk2 sit on 4 SPods. Hence the feet can be a bit smaller as the load is spread over an extra footer. The other aspect is the SPods are a hybrid Pod/spike design, so the spike is doing part of the work. I'm not sure if Magico found that design worked better than a Pod in this case, or if that's the only way they could design them so they matched up visually & didn't stick out from the outriggers? Who knows, as long as they get the job done :audiophile:.
