I've been running audioquest type 4 for a while now and due to a new furniture design scheme my wife has concocted, I needed to place my amp a little further away from my speakers. So I figured since I'd have to go for new cables anyway I'd try something new. I bought a pair of Kimber Kable 8VS and to be honest I'm not thrilled. It almost seems as if I've lost all my low end and bass punch. I went from 10 ft to 15 ft runs but I doubt that is making any difference. Just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind I went back to the type 4 and all the low end punch was back. Does anyone have any suggestions on any other types of cables??? Any help is much appreciated!

I have a McIntosh MAC6700, 200 watts per channel, and I run Paradigm Prestige 85F towers...

So goods products..so I think you like warm sound...So try Van Den Hull Magnum..You are not dispointed by it. I don't know the price in USA, in France, 50 euros by meter and without connection. It a little expensive but with your products, I think you hear the differences.

Going from AQ, unless you wanted some big change, my suggestion would be Analysis Plus. IMO they have a very natural, non-exaggerated sound. I even found the entry stuff very engaging.

In a flat response cable, known for improving bass, my suggestion would be Transparent. They have an online store within return policy.

I think you'd also like my Clarus Crimson but the speaker cables are pretty expensive. I've also found, again, IMO, the Crimson is the series to get, the series below just wasn't the same. The Crimson gives me an extremely quiet background with vivid detail. Another thing about the Clarus, again, despite logic, my experience it works better the more you have in the system.

How long did you play the Kimber? Despite logic, I've noticed cables do require some break in, a lot of it is due to the dielectric used.

Cables have to have synergy in your system, so it may take trying a couple before you hear what you're looking for.

Of course, Siltech and Wire World both make good cables, just based on your post and gear the prior struck me as better attempts.

another vote for analysis plus . i very much enjoyed their big silver oval speaker cables but when i needed more length i had to drop to chord epic cables . very good and cheaper but not quite as good as AP

Vince11281.......I use a 12' pair of Wireworld Silver Eclipse speaker cables between my McIntosh MC2301's and the Sonus faber Amati Anniversario speakers. Far superior to the Kimber 8TC speaker cable I had previously been using. Wireworld Silver Eclipse speaker cables sound wonderful, articulate, and dynamic.

Vince - what characteristics are you missing? What do you hope to achieve by a cable change? More resolution and detail? Increased liquidity? Tighter bass? Better mids?

I like the sound of the audioquest type 4 that I had much more then the kimber kable 8vs that I switched to. The only reason for the switch was I had to start using longer runs of cable for placement reasons so I figured I would make and upgrade. Seems like a lost a lot of low end with the kimber as opposed to the audioquest. Is there anything that extends on the sound qualities of the type 4?

The AudioQuest GO-4 adds the DBS (Dielectric Bias System). The AG-4 adds the DBS and silver coated copper. There are multiple series of speaker cables in the AQ lineup. The "tree" series is very popular. I've had good luck with the Aspen in the store. The Redwood is also very popular.

PM me if you want more information.

I use AQ Rocket 88 I think the GO-4 are in the same price range. Not sure what the difference is. AQ cables are decent and affordable. Not sure if they are the most neutral cables. I have a feelin that NordOst is more neutral.

Thankso to everyone from the input... it's very much appreciated as I'm a newbie to the scene. So the first round of cables I'm going to try are audioquest Rocket 44, Rocket 88, and Go 4. After I give them three a little time in the system I'll move on there.

I use Furutech Linexflux now, before I have Van Den Hul REVELATION.
I can give you more precision if you are interesting by this cable. ( Note, I don't sell them)
