I've seen mention of the Silenzio server on another forum, which is apparently made and supported by a member there with very limited information about it being shared. It's only sold to their forum subscribers and seems to have quite a secretive marketing approach. I recall seeing it listed in some forum member systems here and would appreciate any thoughts on its performance, what other servers it's been compared to, its cost, etc. TIA!
 
I own a Silenzio server and it is a very good product. Well designed, supported and SQ it is excellent.
The cost is dependent on the size of the NAS drive selected. When I ordered mine the sales channel was a bit different, but I can only offer high praise for the Silenzio as it is outstanding.
 
There is no secret to the SilenZio. It is a custom made Windows PC purpose built to stream music/movies. I have met Emile who created it and supports it as needed to a very high level. I have only compared it running ROON to a Sony’s HAP-Z1ES and while the sound is close when both are connected to my K-03x USB input, the SilenZio is better. The Sony is for those that want better than average but don’t really want to play with an external DAC. The SilenZio is for those that want great with lots of flexibility. Mine is connected to my NAS and with ROON is fully integrated with Tidal. I control mine with an app on my iPAD. Works great!

The combination of the Silenzio’s performance (it just works), it’s flexibility (like JRiver, like ROON, Like another app? No problem use it!), have a question (Emile will handle it).

He has asked a dealer to support the customer order fulfillment process but Emile is always there to help you. I have had mine for 3 years and love it.
 
I have 2 Silenzios sharing 1 NAS and they are flawless. Emile is always there when you need him for the initial setup and any changes of equipment at a later date. He responds immediately and can work magic using Show My PC. If you are a total rookie, like I was, he patiently walks you through every step until you become confident. If you are already an expert, he will still impress you. I use JRiver and it works perfectly for me.

I do not believe you should be discussing a product that is associated with another forum (only sold there and no where else). If you did something like that over on that forum you would get banned. Mike is much easier on people who come to his forum however.

I have talked to Emile and he is a very nice guy. The server he builds is good; no better or worse then one you could build yourself, except he builds it for you. He uses the same motherboard that I used when I built mine.
 
Randy - I respect your thoughts as I do that of any other forum members. I'll leave this up to Mike's discretion and if he feels it is at all inappropriate or even questionable to have this thread on AS then please feel free to remove it and accept my sincere apologies. I didn't mean to rock the boat and don't want to be the first man thrown overboard! I appreciate those that have taken the time to respond to my inquiry.

I’m an Aurender/Lumin fan. Like Dan, I love the Aurender products for their organic, rich, liquid sounds. They don’t sound “computer”.

I will say this. There was a contest to name it, and I suggested ‘Silencio’. Later some guy tweaked it to Silenzio and won. LOL
 
The Silenzio sounds like a nice piece of kit (as the Brits say). Seems somewhat similar to a Sound Science Music Vault in its abilities and ease of use. It has been sonically compared to a Sony Hapz1es and bettered it in sound quality. This would be expected seeing as how the Silenzio starts at $4k. Double the SONY's price.
 
Silenzio is a piece of shit designed by an IT help desk engineer using cheap parts from Amazon with no regard to hardware quality and noise reduction. Then he simply installs some off the shelf software.

Just build your own Roon NUC or buy a Roon Server/Endpoint.

The other forum owner just takes the piece of junk, adds 50% margin, promotes it, and deletes any negative reviews, attempts to post information about the parts used, or anything else.

Matter of fact that is how the entire other forum is operated across the board from a business point of view, and he isn’t even an authorized dealer for Mcintosh or Aurender; they banned him!
 
Anyone who buys a $4,000 Silenzio with a cheap Chinese USB sound card and parts, instead of a $3,000 Aurender N100 is absolutely crazy and delusional.

Why do you think the other forum pushes Silenzio so hard? Because the other forum’s owner is banned from selling Aurender. Just call up Aurender and ask them if The other forum owner is a dealer ...

Pattern is super easy to spot. Why do you think other forum owner pushes Esoteric over McIntosh, even though he has the largest McIntosh home theater? Because McIntosh banned him for violating sales territories and warranties. Just call up Mcintosh and ask if the other forum owner is a dealer ...
 
I was kicked off the other forum for suggesting here he was charging people a yearly fee just to have a sig, send PMs, and post pictures. The idea being the fee is to cover forum expenses. However, I suspect he writes the forum cost off as a business expense, and uses the fees as pure profit. An hour after posting that I could no longer log in. LOL
 
Other forum’s entire operation is a scam and profit driven and hopes that new comers arent smart enough to Google and find out he isn’t a dealer for half the products he tries to sell as new. Sells enough Wireworld and Stillpoints snake oil with 100%++ margins that he buys brand new Porsches and Rolexs for him and his wife.

From what I can tell, the Silenzio is a product that appeals to folks who are getting into streaming for the first time and need someone to set it up and guide them in that pursuit.

As someone else mentioned, you can definitely spend much much less for similar results. You can, for example, buy a Roon server end point (including a Roon lifetime membership) and save thousands (as compared to the prices mentioned here). But that will require for you to do a bit of leg work.

You can also look at it from another perspective. If you are in the habit of buying/selling equipment, I am willing to bet that a product with a recognized name and dealer network will have much better resale value in the long run.
 
Does it include some sort of audiophile hardware/software tweaks? Fanless? LPS instead of switching power supplies? Clock hardware modifications? AudiophileOptimizer software?
 
The irony is not lost on me that when the thread was started, people were praising the product, a competing product to ones I sell. Randy was concerned for me, but it really didn’t bother me. I know there are many great products out there from Aurender, Lumin, Auralic, Sonore, etc. that I would prefer and I’m sure, others too.

But now that the comments have shown the other side of the OP’s product in question, I’m being asked privately to close the thread.

It’s really unbelievable. But out of respect for those making the requests, I shall now close this thread.
