Can anyone share there experience using a Sigma V1 interconnects compared to the V2 in sound quality? I have an opportunity to purchase the V1 at a substantial discount because it has now been replaced by the V2.

The V2 offers Greater soundstage - more open and precise - and it is more articulate in the low fq regions - but the Sigma V1 is still a fantastic interconnect with a musicality that few other cables offers.[emoji2]

BjornW,
Thank you for your reply. I am really liking the performance from the Sigma 1 that I am demoing.

Well, I decided to order the new Shunyata Sigma V2 interconnects in XLR-3M.
Cost some coin, but I really liked the original Sigma version that I demoed. So, I am expecting even better things from the V2.

Ozzy,

I've owned the Sigma. v1 AES and CLOCK50s as well as XLR and still think they are the best digital out there prior to the V2 introduction.

I've moved to Sigma V2 (and am thinking about Omega for both) AES and CLOCK50s and been doing extended listening periods with both
v1 and v2. With V1 frankly nothing is missing, V2 does. refine all the best sound and imaging attributes of V1 and are a natural evolution
and improvement. I'll post more details once I have more than a few minutes to post however I'd suggest you give V2 a try asap.

I received the Sigma V2 interconnects yesterday. I know they are supposed to need no break in, but I think they do.
Can anyone share some info on breakin with these cables?

Thanks,
ozzy

Ozzy,

The assertion that KPIP removes the need for ALL break-in is in my experience with alot of KPIP'ed cables, V1 and V2 generation at 2 levels,
not correct. What KPIP does is makes the break-in period that you will still need to do achieve results more smoothly (the extreme good days
and bad of break in are gone) and it helps the initial days from day 1 sound so much better out of the box.

With near 24-hour constant playthrough or power-through the cables, I found day 1 to be very good, day 2 better and the advances able to be
experienced up to the 100 hour point (approximately) to be much more substantial, usually not found with cables until after a LOT more traditional
burn-in was done. After 1-2 weeks, the cables fully reached their prime with the break-in journey being much more consistent and good-sounding
at all points.

From Shunyata's website;

Kinetic Phase Inversion Processing was developed by Caelin Gabriel after years of research into the underlying causes of various effects such as burn-in, wire directionality and the effects of cryogenic treatment. He discovered that there was an underlying core principle that burn-in and cryogenics only partially addressed. Once the governing principle was understood it became possible to create a processor that reduces the need for long burn-in periods and eliminates the effects of cryogenic treatment. Four-days of continuous KPIP™ processing dramatically reduces the sonic ups and downs associated with burn-in, delivering a relaxed and natural presentation.

Well said! Thanks to KPIP, the cables don’t have the same degree of break-in yo-yo’ing.

SCAudiophile,

Thank you so much for that information.
I have been playing a Purist break in disc (on usb) with the Sigma V2 cables going from my Lumin X1 direct to my amps. The amps however are not on 24/7. (Tube Amps)

I am curious, will it still break-in if the amps are off ?

I break my Shunyata cables in by using them. They sound great right at the start, and then one night they sound really great.

Devg,
I was wonderin' that too, but the signal is still flowing from the Lumin, just not amplified. At least that is my take...

BlueFox, johnthomas,
I am playing tunes, but when I'm not, I am using the breakin tracks. Just trying to expedite the process.

Ozzy, will signal still flow through the interconnect if the amp is turned off ? Don't you need a load on the Amp end for the signal to flow ? Just trying to understand.
