I recently upgraded the majority of my power cords (DAC, Clock, Conductor, Monoblock Amps) with Shunyata's new Omega X power cords. I've gone through this evolution multiple times in my 35 years in this hobby. I have never been disappointed by Shunyata. This post is a brief plug (pun intended) for the latest evolution of this renowned cord.

I felt very happy with the hardware I have in my system. before the upgrade. I have never experienced better sound quality in a room around my size anywhere. The only times I have heard better were in Magico's listening room at their factory and at the Florida Audio Expo last year when Mike had a pair of Clarisys speakers filling up a ball room.

After I made the cord change, I noticed some degree of improvement in soundstage depth and breadth but the most striking change (and totally unexpected one) was the difference in the timber of musical instruments. Cello's, trumpets, clarinets, percussion, piano's all had a more realistic representation of the instrument in question and not in a subtle way. This type of change is characteristic of the Shunyata cords. Every upgrade over the years has improved my system but in different ways. It's as if they get into your system, poke around and find something to improve. That was a tough task with my gear but they did it. I can't wait to finish (pre amp and Pink Faun server) to see what else is in store. I can't recommend these power cords highly enough. The price of entry is steep but if you truly want to maximize the potential of your system, there is no substitute.

Why did I read this? It's making me want to upgrade my Sigma-X XC that fronts my Everest 8000 to the Omega-X XC. Assuming the difference is notable and worth the difference that is.

He's bought (at least) six Omega-X power cables. That is $48K MSRP or thereabouts (aside from any trade-in credit). There would need to be a day and night improvement, not just notable, before I would do the same. My best power cables are Sigma v2, and they came at a serious financial stretch.
