We’ve probably beat this topic of being an Audiophile to death. *The discussion sparked a few ideas about how we might get together in service of ourselves. *There’s advantage and power in a group, certainly a self serving one. *More to follow someday.

But today is Thanksgiving. * That time of year when we start to reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re going. *And it occurs to me that I am an Audiophile because several people in my life shared their passion with me. *The first was my dad.

My father Don was an Audiophile and I never realized that till many years after he passed away. *He was the first to share his passion for sound with me. *Dad built his own stereo system, cobbled together from parts he collected. *The Rek-O-Kut turntable, the Stromberg Carlson amplifier. *He turned the family hall closet into a subwoofer cabinet, much to the horror of my mother. *He built his own equipment cabinet, mounted his own speakers into the corners of the living room and ran the wires through the home’s attic so the installation was clean. *I watched in fascination as he built this system asking hundreds of questions, most of them annoying, but some were answered with a smile and a sparkle in his eye. *This was his way of being generous with his passion.

There’s perhaps nothing of greater value you can share than your passion. *It doesn’t have to be with family. *Someone you know is hungry for you to share.

Be generous this holiday season with the greatest gift you possess.

I am thankful for those who shared their passion with me. *It changed my life.

Thanks Dad.
