The other day, Deb Wilson mentioned something interesting, she said: All my friends who come over to my place to watch a flick (film) they all say that the picture and sound (surround) are better than at the theaters.
And she said that she's happy to stay home and enjoys her home theater system; that she don't need to go to the theater no more.

I can totally relate to that, even if I only have a modest system compared to Debby's one.

Since I was very young all my friends appreciated my taste for music and films. And most of them were amazed at all the money I spent on flicks and music recordings. ...Plus years ago I was experimenting with various systems (audio gear and speakers), so a lot of gear went though my doors, brought by my audio dealers from back then.

But let's stay with today; my home theater rig is very modest (roughly ten grands including my plasma 60" TV).
Yes, they like the sound, they feel totally engulfed by it, in a very comfortable way, so much so that they don't talk at all; they LISTEN!

But even from my small 60" TV they all love watching the 3D flicks! ...We sit roughly seven feet from my screen.

Anyhow, I've been at IMAX 3D, saw 'Gravity' in 3D last. ...I prefer the overall experience in my own mansion (igloo).
Why? ...Because:

1. Picture quality is superior.
2. Sound quality is superior.

I won't elaborate on this (I could easily write few encyclopedias), but simply put; it's a fact!
The only thing, and it is a very small thing because I sit very close to my 60" screen, is the sheer IMAX screen's size.
- Deb has a front projector (JVC), and she loves it! ...Well, 2014 is the year for me to 'expand' my horizon (field of view).
...I had a vision, and now is the time to explore it.

_____________

That's it; just a small secret that I wanted to share. I'm sure some of you want to share some too, and that would inspire me to share some more too. ...Past, present, and future.

And I know that some of you have fantastic home theater rooms; with top-notch audio/video gear, including a high end 3D front projector. But this thread is not reserved (restricted) to home theater stuff, but it encompasses everything in life that you like to share with us all. ...And way beyond cinema and music; like children for example, ...passions for food, wines, travels, exotic ways of transportation, and tele-transportation, ...even some amazing dreams you had recently and that you can easily recall by memory. ...Express yourself! ...Through words, visions, souvenirs, pictures, encounters, nature walks, people, fantastic people you met in life, ...anything, everything you loved, love. ...Feel real good 'bout.

Secrets; a way to express what's inside us, and which deserves to be told.
It's good to have secrets (as my Grand Ma used to say). ...Some secrets are meant to be kept, others are worth to be told ....

Sorry to disagree with you Bob but I have never seen a HT picture better or more engaging than is the theater. I will agree with you that you can get better sound at home.

Alright, let me elaborate. :)

At my local IMAX theater the picture was what I figured to be a 2K resolution, hi-def picture. ...Huge screen, and lots and lots of grain (pixels, film's look).
Are you still following me Jim?

At home, my screen is much smaller, so the picture is much more 'clean', and that cleanness gives you more pleasant definition, comfortable real-life lushness and appearance of more pleasant details. ...And the blacks and shadow details (3D effect) are also more prominent, in better evidence at home.

That's what my pair of eyes saw between the overall IMAX theater experience and the one in my own home.
At home I saw a more intricate picture's pleasantness and more favorable sheen. ...Gliding sensuality, positive/more beneficial visual gloss.

The IMAX again is imposing in it's sheer size, but also because of it it reveals all the picture flaws and pixels and film grain and all that visual 'achalandage'.

This is my own visual impression from my own eyes, and yours is equally good because I know exactly what you meant by "engaging".
Better? No, nothing is better; better is a funny word because nothing compares to anything else on an equal level, just different. ...I think.

___________

One more thing: At the IMAX theater they lend us passive 3D glasses. At my home I use active 3D glasses.
If you know a little bit about it it can help you to better understand my viewpoint.

Well, will you feel the same when 4D takes over? Recall your thread where I posted about Illusonic?
I had a brochure to give to Absolare-Bob, but forgot to do so. I guess he is in Vegas now, so perhaps Illusonic is showing there?

Edit: I just called them and they WONT be there. Pity.

4D or 4K? ...Both?

* My memory is usually very excellent; Illusonic yes, I remember very well.

Here's another secret:

What type of tweeter(s) are "best" (smooth soothing the soul) at reproducing accurately (preferably) the high notes of the p.i.a.n.o.? ...Material made.

...From an acoustic solo piano music piece. ...Say a Grand Piano for example.

That was my first thought indeed. ...Illusonic was the real confirmation, the true clue sound.
Stereo is solid (3 Dimensional) - Multichannel (surrround) is expansion beyond (4 Dimensional Immersion).

* Btw Norman, what did you think of my answer to your recent question regarding my newest avatar; the Eye of Ra ?

Answer was OK. Its not a symbol that I like though…and does not seem suited to you in my eyes.

I agree about the definition of 7 though…7 is the dynamic of TRUTH.

Well, if you look carefully at the "Eye of Ra" there are se7ven direction lines. ...The seventh one is the 'horizon' point line.

* Norm, what would be a better suiting avatar for me, in your own eyes? :) ...A musical note, an album cover, an AM/FM r.a.d.i.o. tuner, an abstract painting, a mountain surrounded by a forest, an exotic bird, a tattooed tongue, the North Star on a clear dark satin navy blue night, or a beautiful young girl's face?

Tell me, it'll be our secret. ;)

Can I chime in?

What about this

I'm not sure if your Eye or Ra avatar looks more like Stewie Griffin's head with one eye or the Time Warner Cable logo! :D :D :D

I think this young blue-eyed beauty's face should do well!

Mylar is DuPont's registered trademark for polyester.

Polyimide is a different polymer. My ribbons are Kapton/polyimide.

No comment on the blue-eyed beauty?

Thank you Gary. It sounds to me that you are on the right track.
I like to hear some other member's comments too; about what you just mentioned, and also about their own personal preferences from experience. ...Their secret weapons on what they believe are the most beautiful sweetest singing tweeters to reproduce the highest notes of a Grand Piano. ...With verve, delicacy, and true power. ...Reliable and with constancy.

No comment on the blue-eyed beauty?

She is gorgeously beautiful. ... Sharon Markovich
