The question I have is whether it is truly analogue or an ADAC process? A computer is required to do the topographical translation and mapping for the laser inscription. How do you think the translation is affected? From a digital audio file as we know it? Or would the topological meta data be derived using some other analogue recording instrumentation?

It's a very interesting proposition to replace cutters with lasers.

I was thinking the same thing.......... although the backwards compatibility would make it more palatable.

LOL, no the 'audio budget' just got blown for the year ......... I just ordered a pair of Revel Studio 2's

Usual questions. Let’s see what the quality and price of the records will be, as well as breadth of upcoming catalogue plus compatible gear and judge then. But can’t avoid the impression that it sounds a bit like SACD on vinyl to me. We all know how well that went.

Not everything that is technically possible, is also commercially feasible.
