Last evening Linda and I capped a busy day by attending the opening night of Sarah Bareilles first tour in several years "Amidst The Chaos". She has come a long way since we saw her as an opening act many years ago. At that time it was just her playing either the guitar or piano. On this tour she was backed by a 8 person band for all but about 4 or 5 songs she performed solo.
She has a voice that is both powerful when needed but so easy on the ears too. My one issue was sound mix related. We had pretty good seat in Row G that were a bit left of center. Unfortunately we were either sitting too close to the bass speakers or the mix was pumped up for the double bass and drum kit. It isn't really venue related as the best sound I have ever heard at concert was there at the Fox when we saw Leonard Cohen on his final tour.
I would consider flying to another city too catch her again. We will see. Tonight she is playing Nashville.
It was a busy night in Detroit last night. There are three venues that line Woodward Avenue in just a few blocks. While we were seeing Sarah Bareilles The Black Keys were playing Little Ceaser's Arena and Dane Cook had his comedy show at The Filmore.
