Running Roon Core on a Virtual Machine

Nice idea, what is HW good for anyway [emoji3].

I guess it is a cool idea. Most companies, banks, the DoD that I worked for, the county I currently work for, etc. run VM. It allows them to stand up new servers without purchasing new hardware. Most servers don't use a fraction of the resources that modern serves come with. It allows these resources, CPUs, RAM, etc., to be shared. Depending on servers they can add new blades if more resources are needed. Works great in enterprise applications.

However for home use you have got to be a complete computer geek to run a virtual environments. I cannot see 99.9999999% people at home having any use what so ever for VM Ware :D....

Parallels is an easy to use, relatively cheap and easy to setup VM solution. I have been running Parallels for years to allow Windows to run on MacOS.

I agree. I used to run VM Ware (running a virtual Windows machine in my Mac) at a time when some products did not offer a Mac version and sometimes it was a real pain.

This solution requires some tech knowledge and I would not recommend. I was running LMS on the WindowsVM and it was frustrating when I just wanted to listen to music and instead would run into technical glitches.

A dedicated machine for Roon with enough power to run all kind of DSP would be my recommendation.
