Ok guys,

I've spend time searching google and the Rose forum and can't find an answer to what I am trying to do:

- I have music videos on the external HD attached to my Rose;

- I'd like to send the video OUT from the Rose HDMI that is hooked up to my Apple TV / TV to display the music video video content;

- I'd like the audio portion to output through the RCA's on the Rose to my Luxman;

I don't think this is possible. Anyone know for sure? Otherwise I will simply Airplay the music videos from my Mac to the Apple TV and from there via HDMI into the Rose and then out of the Rose into the Luxman.

I'd be surprised if that isn't possible, particularly as one of Rose's claims is that Youtube videos can be grabbed by the RS150 and the video content (with no adverts) sent via HDMI to a TV while Rose deal with the audio at highest possible quality. Have you tried this feature (called Rosetube I think) to verify that it works as described?

I had tried it once and the issue I saw was I need to select what the output on the Rose is. So if I select output HDMI for the video, I don't see how I can also then select RCA for just the audio.

I may be missing something though. If I had an AVR receiver I think it would be fine, but I don't use those.

I wonder if the Rose is going to ship the content ( audio and video) via the HDMI port to your HDMI connection on your monitor.

Yes - when I tried it the sound when to the TV along with video.

I currently have Apple TV via HDMI to TV and TV via eARC HDMI Into the Rose. If I airplay to Apple TV all works great (video on TV and sound through Luxman). I'm simply trying to get the sound though not to have to go through Airplay / HDMI and instead originate on HD of Rose and get split audio / video wise from there.

Sounds like you need an HDMI Audio Extractor ; never tried one

I think you may be using the wrong HDMI socket on the RS150. Although it's labelled ARC IN, I'm pretty sure that's the one you should be connecting to your TV. ARC is a 2-way connector so the audio could go from the TV to the Rose or the video from the Rose can go to the TV.

My NAD M33 has an ARC HDMI and when connected and playing from Qobuz or my Library, the album artwork is sent to my TV down that ARC connection. Your TV must of course also have an HDMI ARC socket

It's possible. Thanks. I'm going to play with it more this afternoon and see what I can figure out. All in all though this is one seriously impressive unit.

then you would be better off connecting the rose direct to the mac with usb (add a reclocker for best sound) rather than going the extra mile through the tv and back into the rose.

arc is one way and e-arc is 2 way

I think that may be nit-picking. My TV has an HDMI marked ARC as does my streamer. With a cable connected, the TV shows the artwork that it gets from the streamer. If my TV is the source, the signal goes the other way - the audio goes from the TV to the streamer

maybe in your case.....anybody else has to choose E-arc for both directions

just googled....i am wrong
arc works 2 ways as well, the difference is 1Mbits per second vs 37 Mbits per second

As far as I know, it’s either or with the 150. You can use the HDMI OUT to your TV (audio and video) and watch videos OR you get audio out from RCA or balanced outputs but not both. You can watch the video on the front of the unit though. And of course we are talking about the HDMI out and not the HDMI ARC in.

Saw this entry on the Rose forum

"HDMI port can output both audio and video if HDMI output is activated in In/Out Settings.
If HDMI port is not activated in In/Out settings but you connected HDMI port to TV, it’s okay. You don’t have to activate HDMI port in In/Out settings just for video. Activate HDMI port in In/Out settings only when you want to output audio with the HDMI cable.

ARC port is for receiving audio signal. In most cases, it is used by connecting to the ARC port of TV. In this case, you need to activate ARC IN port in In/Out settings. You will be able to hear the sound of TV via RS150B.
Unfortunately, eARC is not supported for RS150B. Please connect to ARC port. "

Fantastic! Thank you!

I had searched prior and must have missed that.

CPP - you were right. All I needed to do was switch the input on the TV as the Rose has been sending the music info to the TV while the audio signal goes to the Luxman all along.

Thanks!!
