ROON runs on a NAS!

So another option to run Roon Core....?

Is Roon now King of streaming servers?

How does it compare to HQPlayer for those bent in the CAPs world?
 
I have roon up and running on my qnap tvs-471. using an external ssd in combination with my normal raid 5 volume.
I am now wondering if it is possible to run roon thru hqplayer on the qnap nas.
 
You need a very powerful NAS to do that. Even my 1 year old Synology 1815+ 8 bay NAS can't do that. And forget about HQ Player altogether.

Plus, you have to invest in at least one SSD as NAS cache.

But that is the future.
 
My nas has an i3 3.5 ghz dual core with 16gb of ram, I added an external samsung t3 ssd today which seems to run the roon qpkg just fine pulling from a music folder with about 4tb of music files.
The HQ player is the part Im not sure about yet.
