If Tidal comprises most of my listening and I don’t have or listen to many music files, is Roon still worth it? Thanks for answering this Roon novice’s question.

If you are happy with your current Tidal metadata/browsing/curation and playback than no on Roon.

Local library or Local Library + Tidal is where Roon really shines.

I personally do not like Tidal’s GUI. For that alone (not to mention the information that Roon provides artists, recordings, etc.) I would go with Roon. But if you are content with what Tidal gives you, then there’s no need for you to invest in Roon.

Since you have been considering about getting a Lumin, if you decide to buy one you can familiarize yourself with the Lumin Tidal operation first, as well as the Tidal app/web operations (for an alternative way to browse Tidal and add albums to favorite). After you feel you're reasonably familiar with the operations, then you can attempt to get a free trial of Roon and see if you like its UI and whether its additional metadata is useful to you.

Thank you Peter. That makes perfect sense.

The Roon/Tidal synergy is a absolute. Since Roon can be installed on your computer, you can give it a go, and see if you enjoy that interface more (I certainly do!), even if playing through computer speakers or AirPlay, for instance.
