Roon Labs Community

From the first post:
I would like there to be a “guest” or party profile which by default has all the editing, exporting, setup functions turned off. That way I can let my guests browse through Roon without me hovering and worrying that they might “make a drunken mistake”.

Keep in mind this is also useful for family that may make a mistake (e.g. kids)

Roon "Party Mode"

Got it. This request has been around since 2015. Even the COO of Roon commented and agreed. Obviously not a big priority.

I have always let my guests play around with my iPad and Roon. I give them the tablet and let them play/do whatever they want.

A couple of things I do that can help prevent problems.

1) create your playlist in the music service itself (Qobuz or Tidal). That becomes the “original” playlist.

2) In Roon, you will still “see” the original playlist and you can listen to it and play any song you want but you CANNOT delete any songs. To delete any songs from the original playlist you have to use the original music service app. Note: you can, however, delete the entire playlist from within Roon and in doing so, you delete the original playlist as well. So it is not foolproof.

A big advantage of creating the playlist outside of Roon is that the playlist created in Roon only work inside of Roon. They cannot be exported/transferred to other platforms automatically.

Yes, they merged my request with it. It's silly that there isn't a simple version where settings can't be changed. Think about it. Kid changes volume to max and you don't see it and press play.
